Our family has enjoyed spending time at Poplar Grove Plantation. It’s just outside Wilmington. You can learn history, see farm animals, relax in the nature preserve or enjoy the farmer’s market and the many festivals held there throughout the year.
Alexis: My mother is my true inspiration. I grew up with a mom who bought and sold numerous homes for her own use and commercial properties for investment. Since looking at real estate possibilities was something we often did together, being a realtor is a natural evolution of my accumulated knowledge and creative talents. I was a realtor in NJ and now am excited to be a realtor in my new hometown.
Lee: From a young age I gained an amazing work ethic and my mechanical abilities from my grandfather. Putting these traits to work in the automotive industry, I also developed a strong customer service ethic and great attention to detail. For me, the real estate housing market is a puzzle, just like the mechanics of a car. I love to look at houses on MLS, seeing how they fit in the solution to that real estate puzzle for someone. The land, the lots, the homes on them – they’re all part of the fascination of real estate for me. And as a bonus, I get to work with my wife.
When I was a realtor in New Jersey, my mom and I were out looking at houses for possible investments. We went to see a house on Shades of Death Road (Yes, it's a real name! you can look it up on WeirdNJ.com) that looked like a typical bi-level from the outside. Inside, however, the lower level was an indoor pool with no moisture barriers of any kind. The gross-looking result was black mold all over upstairs, and a graffitied broken down pool downstairs. Needless to say, we did not consider this a good investment!
